Chalmette Urgent Medical Care and the office of Dr. Scott G. Conklin, MD is a walk-in clinic located in the heart of New Orleans’ St. Bernard Parish. Our mission is to evaluate and treat your condition -- getting you back on your feet and feeling good again.
Dr. Scott G. Conklin, Medical Director
Dr. Conklin Graduated with honors from Tulane University School Of Medicine in 1994 and has spent most of his career working in numerous emergency rooms throughout the state of Louisiana. Prior to Hurricane Katrina, Dr. Conklin was the Medical Director for Industrial and Occupational Medicine and Wound Care / Hyperbaric Clinics at Chalmette Medical Center before opening his first stand alone facility.
Before moving to Louisiana, Dr. Conklin graduated from Occidental College in California. He also performed extensive research at the UCLA Brain Research Institute and was twice published for his efforts.
Dr. Conklin has been a resident of St. Bernard Parish since 1994. He and his wife, Irene Sage, have one daughter. In his free time, Dr. Conklin can be seen playing lead guitar in local venues backing his wife in the Irene Sage Band.
Donna G. Gifford, RT(R), Clinic Manager
Donna is a Registered Radiological Technologist and a Certified Medical Assistant with over 23 years of experience in healthcare. Donna believes that Personal Old Fashion Quality Healthcare is what all our patients deserve and has structured the workings of all aspects of our operation to reflect this deeply held philosophy.
Donna is a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish, graduating from the CNA/CMA program at Andrew Jackson High School & St. Bernard Community College before matriculating at LSU/Baton Rouge and Delgado/New Orleans for prerequisite studies then graduating from Charity Hospital School of Radiology.
Prior to Katrina, Donna was a 20 year employee of Chalmette Medical Center and worked in several areas of the hospital including several years side by side with Dr. Conklin. Recognizing Dr. Conklin’s personal commitment to quality healthcare as identical to her own, Donna left to join Dr. Conklin and has become an integral part of the creation and framework of our clinic.
Ladonna Smith RT(R), Radiological Technologist
Ladonna has been a member of the radiology profession since 1972. She has been married to Gerry D. Smith for 36 years and they share a daughter, Megan. Ladonna was born in Bogalusa and raised and lived in Chalmette before relocating to Slidell in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Ladonna loves being an MRI tech and being in “the parish” on a daily basis and is thrilled to see familiar faces and smiles.
