What to Expect
What you can expect at the time of your visit
Because our goal is to get you in to see the doctor shortly after you arrive, we have streamlined our process to serve you better.
Upon your arrival, as a new patient (or an existing patient with changes in basic information) our patient coordinator will greet you and ask you to present your drivers license or photo ID, Insurance Card (if applicable) and your method of payment. If bringing a minor, we will ask this same information from the parent or legal guardian. You will then be presented with check in forms to complete and sign. We have included links to our check in forms should you wish to fill them out prior to your arrival.
After completing the forms, the staff will see you in the order you have arrived (unless we have a patient needing immediate medical care due to serious injury or other potentially life threatening problems). Our waiting room is open and spacious and filled with lots of reading material for your comfort.
We have four exam rooms which can fill up quickly. You will be escorted to an examination room when one becomes available. Shortly thereafter, you will be seen as follows:
1) Triage
At this time we will record your past & present medical history, your chief medical complaints (reasons for your visit), obtain vital signs, and any necessary information pertaining to your visit.2) Physical Evaluation
Next, our physician will then see you to complete an exam, review your medical issues, resolve your issues or if necessary, recommend any further tests he needs in order for him to properly diagnose and treat you. If our physician determines that you need an x-ray, lab test or more in depth diagnostic studies (like an MRI), he will order as such. Your studies will be performed at the time of your visit by our RT or scheduled for a return visit.3) Diagnosis and Treatment
Once the doctor has had a chance to see you and review any diagnostic studies,x-rays or labs, he can give you a proper diagnosis and treatment regimen which may include bandaging, minor surgery, prescriptions, outside orders or he may recommend you follow up with a specialist. As part of your treatment, he may also recommend a follow up visit here at our clinic.Payment
Upon the conclusion of your visit with the doctor, you will proceed to the front desk where our patient coordinator will complete your visit by obtaining method of payment (cash, cop-pays and deductibles) and giving you a receipt or invoice for your records. While it is our goal to have you seen and treated quickly, there is no stop watch when it comes to proper treatment. Our main purpose is to thoroughly treat your condition and have you on your way in as fast a time possible and thereby help you to avoid costly and lengthy emergency room visits. However, it is vitally important that you understand any treatment or follow up instructions you receive prior to leaving CUMC. After your departure, you can always call with follow up questions or issues.
